トリイデザイン研究所は皆様のご協力のもとで12周年を迎えました。

今年も12周年を迎えているモノを「2025年 12周年」で例年同様にgoogleで検索をかけてみました。

今年は、AIモードが検索結果の上部に表示されることにより、いままでは毎年「モンスト」ばかり強調されていたのが、今年は「にゃんこ大戦争」が登場してきました。

私は「にゃんこ大戦争」は名前しか聞いたことがありませんが、GoogleのAIモードによれば「つまり、2025年の12周年は、主にモンストの盛大な記念イベントと、にゃんこ大戦争の周年イベントが継続していたことを指します。」ということのようです。

2025年の振り返り

トリイデザインの2025年は、東京国立博物館の「浮世絵現代展」、ティエリー・ノワール「ラッシュアワー」など美術展関係のプロモーションなどのアート系のプロジェクトが多い年となりました。継続して行っている食品メーカーの海外展開も進みつつあります。防災事業である「ストックストック」も昨年よりも多くの企業に導入頂き、レジリエンスやBCPなどのコンサルテーションなどのプロジェクトも多く手掛けました。幾何学形状ではない家具などのプロジェクトも途中から進みつつあり、来年に発表できる製品も仕込んでいます。

とくに今年は、弊社がデザインを協力させていただいた、津軽燈LABさんの「津軽塗お箸研ぎ出しキット」がグッドデザイン賞を受賞したり、「ストックストックDS」が防災グッズ大賞を受賞したり、多くのデザインの評価を頂いた年でもありました。

弊社のデザインを考える上での社会科学の学びも今年は、個人的にとても興味のあったノルベルト・エリアスの『文明化の過程』から、M.ウェーバーの名著である『プロテスタンティズムの倫理と資本主義の精神』、ランドル・コリンズの『脱常識の社会学』までを取り上げることができました。コリンズの議論は基本的にはエミール・デュルケームの議論をベースにしていますが、次回のコラムはデュルケームの初期三部作を取り上げる予定です。何度も読んでいるのですが、どう理解すればよいか悩ましいところがあります。もう少し時間がかかりそうですが、取り上げたいと考えています。

2026年に向けて

2026年は、私自身が経験と知識が身についてきた、BCPやレジリエンスなどを、多くの方に知ってもらえるようなデザインの製品やプロモーションを積極的に進めていきたいと思います。

また、この12年間で培われてきたトリイデザインの経験を防災に活かせるようなプロジェクトを立ち上げたいと思ったりしています。来年も裏側で社会をサポートできるような役割を担うことができれば嬉しいかぎりです。

Looking Back at 2025

2025 was a year in which Torii Design was involved in many art-related projects, including promotional work for exhibitions such as the Tokyo National Museum’s “Ukiyo-e In Play” and Thierry Noir’s “Rush Hour.” At the same time, the overseas expansion projects we have been continuing with food manufacturers have steadily progressed.

Our disaster preparedness business, “StockStock,” was adopted by more companies than in the previous year, and we also undertook numerous consulting projects related to resilience and business continuity planning (BCP). In addition, we have been developing several furniture and product projects that move beyond simple geometric forms, and we are preparing to unveil some of these new products next year.

This was also a year in which many of our design projects received recognition. Among the highlights, the Tsugaru-nuri Chopstick Polishing Kit, developed in collaboration with Tsugaru Akari LAB, received the Good Design Award, while StockStock DS was honored with the Disaster Preparedness Products Award. These achievements were especially meaningful to us and reaffirmed the value of our design approach.

This year, I also continued my personal study of the social sciences, which has become an important foundation for how we think about design. My reading ranged from Norbert Elias’s The Civilizing Process to Max Weber’s classic The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, and Randall Collins’s Sociology Beyond Common Sense. Collins’s work is largely grounded in the ideas of Émile Durkheim, and in my next column I plan to explore Durkheim’s early trilogy. Although I have read these works several times, I still find myself wrestling with how best to understand and interpret them. It may take a little more time, but I hope to share those reflections in a future article.

Looking Ahead to 2026

In 2026, I hope to actively develop products and promotional initiatives that help more people understand the importance of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and resilience—fields in which I have gained considerable experience and expertise over the years.

I also hope to launch new projects that apply the knowledge and experience Torii Design has built over the past twelve years to the field of disaster preparedness. It would be deeply rewarding if we could continue to play a role in supporting society behind the scenes and contribute in ways that are not always visible, but genuinely meaningful.
